lisboncarhire.com is operated by Lisbon Carhire, of Avenida Almirante Gago Coutinho 60, Alvalade, 1700-031 Lisbon, Portugal. It compares cars from independent rental companies serving Lisbon and its airport and refers you to the one you pick. We are a comparison and referral service, nothing more: no car here belongs to us, none is insured by us, and nobody at a rental desk works for us.

These terms cover what happens on this website: reading, comparing and sending an enquiry. The hire itself is governed by the supplier's contract at handover, which prevails over this page on anything about the car.

Your contract is with the supplier

Choosing a car forwards your dates, contact details and chosen vehicle to the company that operates it. That supplier confirms the car, states the deposit it will hold, issues the booking reference and hands over the keys at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Prior Velho or wherever the listing says. That agreement is between you and the supplier alone; Lisbon Carhire is not a party to it and cannot amend or enforce it.

Comparing costs you nothing. When a booking that started here is completed, the supplier pays us a referral commission out of its own margin; it is not added to your rate and does not affect the order of listings, which follows your filters and sort.

Live feed prices and availability

A listing is assembled from the supplier's live feed as the page loads: day rate, fuel policy, mileage cap, deposit rule and car description all come from that feed. Availability in Lisbon moves quickly in summer and around public holidays: a car can go while you compare it, and a supplier can revise a rate without telling us.

What binds the supplier is the price and the conditions it confirms when you book, not a results page from an hour earlier. A photograph stands for a class of car; the vehicle handed over may be a different model of the same size.

What the supplier will require

Each rental company sets its own entry conditions, and meeting them is your job: a licence held for at least the period the listing states, an age inside the band it shows, identification in the lead driver's name, and a payment method that supplier takes. Details you type here must be correct; a desk may turn away a booking whose documents do not match.

Many motorways around Lisbon collect tolls electronically, and most suppliers fit a transponder for a daily charge that lands on their invoice, not ours. Taking the car into Spain usually needs the supplier's written consent and may carry a fee; without it you breach the rental agreement, not this page.

Amendments, cancellations and refunds

Each supplier writes its own rules for changing dates, swapping cars and cancelling, so read the conditions shown against a car before you confirm. After that, changes go to the supplier, quoting your booking reference; a refund is the supplier's decision under its own terms, and we cannot override it.

Limits on our liability

We take reasonable care over listings and pass enquiries on without delay, but inspecting vehicles, employing handover staff and setting prices are the supplier's business. If a reservation is cancelled, a car falls short, a damage charge is disputed or a deposit is slow to come back, the matter lies with the supplier under your contract with it.

So far as Portuguese and European law permit, our liability for your use of this website is limited to direct loss caused by our own negligence. Indirect and consequential loss, a missed flight out of Humberto Delgado or a lost hotel night for instance, is excluded. Nothing here removes a liability the law forbids us to exclude, and your statutory rights as a consumer are untouched.

Acceptable use and reviews

Use the site to find a car you plan to hire. Scraping listings, pointing automated tools at the search, entering booking details you do not intend to honour, and using the enquiry or review forms for unlawful or commercial purposes are prohibited.

Post a review only about a rental you took yourself, never for a supplier or a rival, and keep it free of anything defamatory; submitting it lets us publish, trim or remove it without payment, and one we cannot trace is taken down.

Copyright in the text, layouts, comparison tables, driving guides and code of lisboncarhire.com rests with Lisbon Carhire unless a page says otherwise, and may not be reproduced without written permission. Supplier names, logos and vehicle images remain theirs.

Governing law, changes and contact

We revise these terms as the site and its supplier relationships change; a new version applies once published here, and continued use is your acceptance of it.

Portuguese law governs these terms, and the courts of Lisbon are competent for any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident in another European Union member state, that choice leaves untouched the protection the mandatory consumer rules of your own country give you, and you may bring proceedings in its courts. Data handling is set out separately.
